Bosbokduin, Stilbaai
A new dwelling in an estate with very specific aesthetic guidelines, consisting of 60degree thatch roofs and low face brick walls. With the site being situated on the coast with access to incredible views, the challenge was to design a modern, open plan home which responds to the surroundings within the confines of the aesthetic guidelines.
The building is planned around a central Courtyard which will be sheltered from the Southern wind. Main accommodations will be located the wing facing the view, while the wing towards street will host the garages and separate flatlet.
Steel and planed timber will be used for the structure apposed to timber poles which are commonly used, in achieving a cleaner aesthetic internally and aiding with spans over large, glazed openings towards the views.
